"A Salute to Men" Jazz Luncheon to be Hosted by News Correspondant, Tisha Lewis

Tisha Lewis received the perfect welcome to Chicago - the Blizzard of 2011! On her first day of work, she slipped on her boots, hat, scarf and gloves and trekked through the snow to interview Chicagoans preparing for the big storm!

Lewis was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Montclair, VA but is excited to call Chicago home!

Since arriving, she's contributed live reports on Fox News Channel's "The Fox Report with Shepard Smith" and "At Large with Geraldo Rivera." Tisha also co-founded Sisters Peak, a youth mentoring program designed to help female students climb to their peak of success and achievement.

Prior to joining Fox 32 News, Lewis was an Anchor and Reporter at the Fox affiliate in Indianapolis, IN. While there she covered stories that made national headlines including a deadly teen bullying case, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels' take on 2010 and the Indianapolis Colts' road to Super Bowl XLIV.

Lewis credits her nearly four years as a Reporter and Anchor at WTVJ, the NBC affiliate in Miami, FL, as the catalyst for her passion to tell a good story. While there she covered hurricane season; conflicts in Haiti and Cuba, including the transition of power when Dictator Fidel Castro fell ill; the 2008 presidential campaign; the inauguration of President Barack Obama and Anna Nicole Smith's death. Lewis also worked at WSFL, the CW affiliate in Miami, FL, where she joined its flagship morning program, "The Morning Show" and anchored news headlines.

Tisha began her broadcast journalism career in 2002 in Harlem, NY, working behind the scenes at Fox News Channel on "At Large with Geraldo Rivera" and "The Big Story Weekend Edition with Rita Cosby."

Two years later, she became a Reporter at KGET, the NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, CA. She got her first taste of television at 14 years old as a "Posse Member" on Black Entertainment Television's talk show "Teen Summit."

Lewis has volunteered with the Miss America Organization, NAACP, Habitat for Humanity, Black Pilots of America and appeared in Kaiser Permanente's "Rap-It-Up" public service announcement which focused on HIV and AIDS awareness.

Before chasing news, Tisha played classical piano for more than a decade, violin for two years and the Alto B saxophone for 3 years, so she loves music! She also performed with D.C. Youth Ensemble in Washington, DC, an affiliate of The Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts.

Lewis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Spanish from Virginia Tech. She draws inspiration from her mother who she calls her best friend. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Chicago/ Midwest chapter.
