The strength of the Black community hinges on the viability of the family. If the family foundation is weak, so too will be the broader societal structure that gives life and nourishes the family unit. Alpha Kappa Alpha is sensitive to the fact that within the core structure, the Black male, in particular, faces potentially daunting challenges. Recognizing this, a powerful remedy lies in devising strategies for assisting young males in overcoming the formidable challenges to their educational development and well-being. Through activities that enable, support and provide access, Alpha Kappa Alpha will work to achieve the economic growth of the Black family.

Goal: Through activities that enable, support and provide access, Alpha Kappa Alpha will work to achieve the economic growth of the Black family.

• Identify one family which includes a black man to connect to resources as needed.
• Conduct orientation for family along with appropriate resources
• Schedule touch points with the family
• Partner with platforms and community events to improve the quality of life for Members' families and our sponsored family.
• Design advocacy programs that will affect changes in education resulting in academic success for the Black male and create proactive strategies and projects to address the current problems that young Black males are facing.  Chapters should collaborate and have joint sponsorship of this project in order to reach a larger audience
• Conduct public forums and invite experts in the field of address the challenges affecting the success of educating and other issues facing the Black male.  Partnerships should be formed with organizations such as churches, community and civic organizations, and Black male organizations.
